Multiple opportunities are available: we're seeking both a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and a skilled Braillist. Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or equivalent credential (for TVI role).
  • Proficiency in braille transcription, with strong knowledge of tactile materials, formats, and adaptive technology (for Braillist role).
  • Previous experience working with students who are blind or have low vision highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educational teams, students, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple student caseloads or assignments.
  • Commitment to promoting independence, access, and advocacy for students with visual impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in classroom and resource settings.
  • Develop and implement individualized instructional strategies to support student access to the curriculum.
  • Create, transcribe, and adapt learning materials into braille or other accessible formats.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure best practices and continuity of support.
  • Contribute to IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and data collection as required.
  • Support training on assistive technologies and adaptive equipment.
