Key qualifications and experience for success:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments
- Skilled in conducting functional vision evaluations (FVE) and learning media assessments (LMA)
- Familiarity with orientation and mobility (O&M) assessment and support
- Ability to deliver both direct student instructional hours and indirect services, including teacher/staff consultation and materials preparation
- Comfortable participating in ARD meetings and contributing to educational planning
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
- Previous experience in school settings is preferred
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized instruction and direct services to students with visual impairments
- Conducting FVE, LMA, and O&M assessments to inform student plans
- Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families through consultations and strategic planning
- Preparing adapted materials and resources to support student learning and access to the curriculum
- Participating actively in ARD meetings to advocate for student needs and goals
