Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- In-depth knowledge of adaptive technologies, Braille, and assistive devices
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with educators, families, and specialists
- Ability to develop and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet unique student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments across educational settings
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning environments to tailor instruction
- Design individualized lesson plans reinforcing access to curriculum and fostering independence
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, occupational/physical therapists, and support staff
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion, ensuring students have the tools for academic success
- Guide families and staff on strategies and resources for optimal student development
