This full-time opportunity focuses on delivering tailored instruction and resources in a variety of school settings. As an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you’ll collaborate with school staff and families to help students develop confidence and maximize their independence.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field
  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience (student teaching, internship, or employment) working with children or adolescents with visual impairments preferred
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive strategies for visual impairment
  • Ability to travel between assigned school sites
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, adapting instruction to individual learning styles and needs
  • Support students’ use of Braille, large print, assistive technology, and tactile learning materials
  • Consult regularly with classroom teachers and special education staff to develop accessible curriculum strategies
  • Complete assessments and develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) specific to students’ vision needs
  • Engage with families and provide training or support as appropriate to further student success
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and communication with educational teams
