Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification with specialization in visual impairment or related field
• Demonstrated experience working with students who are visually impaired or blind
• Proficiency in braille instruction, orientation and mobility techniques, and assistive technology
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff
• Ability to design and adapt individualized educational plans for students
• Commitment to fostering inclusivity and maximizing student independence

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments using specialized techniques
• Adapt curriculum materials and classroom settings to ensure accessibility
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to implement accommodations and modifications
• Assess students’ progress and update individualized education programs (IEPs) regularly
• Provide guidance, support, and training to students, families, and school personnel
• Advocate for students’ needs and help build an inclusive learning environment
• Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in the field
