Desired Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid certification in teaching students who are visually impaired
• Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Proficiency with Braille, tactile resources, and assistive technology
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, teachers, and specialists
• Previous work in school settings preferred
• Dedication to fostering independence and confidence in students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction aligned with IEP goals, adapting curriculum materials as needed
• Assess students’ abilities and needs, conducting or participating in eligibility evaluations
• Offer guidance to classroom teachers on accommodations, modifications, and accessible resources
• Partner with educational teams and families to monitor progress and advocate for supportive services
• Train and support students in the use of assistive technologies and orientation/mobility strategies
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation in a timely manner
• Participate in professional development to remain current in best practices and legal requirements
