Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic K-12 environment located near Seattle, WA. This onsite, part-time position spans the 2026-2027 school year, running from August 26, 2026, to June 16, 2027, and is ideal for educators who are committed to facilitating access and learning for students who are visually impaired.
This role offers the chance to work with a diverse caseload of 8 students. Each student may have individualized service needs, resulting in a flexible schedule averaging 15 hours per week. You’ll make a meaningful impact by advocating for accessibility, supporting independence, and collaborating with school teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Washington State TVI Certification required
- Current fingerprint clearance through OSPI required before start
- Experience providing direct services and consulting for visually impaired students
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary staff
- Ability to schedule and manage a varied caseload efficiently and compassionately
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction and adaptations to support visual needs in academic and functional areas
- Develop and implement IEP goals, monitor progress, and participate in meetings
- Consult with teachers, staff, and families about accommodations, technology, and classroom modifications
- Advocate for inclusive practices and empower students to access both general and specialized curricula
- Maintain documentation and reports in compliance with state and district guidelines
