Teacher of Visually Impaired in Seattle, WA

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
• Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students preferred
• Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille, and accessible instructional materials
• Understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with visual impairments
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
• Ability to travel between sites if needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ functional vision and educational needs collaboratively with the educational team
• Develop and implement individualized instruction tailored to each student’s strengths and goals
• Modify curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility and effective learning
• Provide direct instructional support in academic, social, and adaptive skills development
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to promote inclusion
• Serve as an advocate for students and provide guidance to educators and caregivers on best practices
• Facilitate training for staff on strategies and accommodations for visually impaired learners
• Participate in IEP meetings and maintain clear, ongoing documentation of student progress
