Key Qualifications:

• Certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with children and adolescents who are blind or have low vision
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional materials
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Flexibility, organizational skills, and a passion for empowering students

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
• Adapt curriculum materials and recommend accommodations to foster student access
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Train staff and families on assistive technology and Braille literacy
• Monitor and document student progress, maintaining clear records
• Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to goal setting, and advocate for student needs
