Step into a vital role supporting students across the Chattanooga area as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time contract position spans the 2026-2027 school year, with opportunities to start making an impact from August 5, 2026, through May 19, 2027. The position covers a 35-hour work week, with flexible scheduling options for those seeking part-time if needed. You'll be working with K-12+ students, serving a mix of general education and special education classrooms, and providing itinerant services across a thoughtfully assigned cluster of schools to minimize travel.

Requirements:

  • Active DOE certification and ability to complete fingerprinting requirements swiftly
  • Experience or training in Braille and Assistive Technology; familiarity with accessing resources via the Federal Quota program is highly valued
  • Versatility in working with diverse learners, including those with multiple disabilities
  • Skilled in participating in and documenting IEPs; experience with TN Pulse platform preferred
  • Proficiency and comfort working with Chromebooks for instructional access

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high schools
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure students’ individualized needs are met
  • Provide expertise in the use of assistive technology and adapt educational materials as required
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation using the established district systems
  • Travel between campuses, with a schedule that minimizes commute times
