Make a difference supporting students as a skilled educator for the visually impaired. This contract position focuses on empowering students with visual impairments to succeed academically and independently. You’ll play an important role in collaborating with school teams and families to advocate for the needs of your students.

Your background working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired will help you design accessible lessons, provide direct instruction in Braille and assistive technology, and support inclusion in the school community.

Requirements:

• Valid licensure or certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Experience working in school settings with students with visual impairments
• Strong knowledge of Braille, low vision strategies, and accessible instructional materials
• Proficiency with assistive technology devices and software
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
• Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet IEP goals
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Offer orientation and mobility training in partnership with other professionals, as appropriate
• Serve as an expert resource for school staff and families on visual impairment needs
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and data collection
