This is a full-time, in-person contract opportunity for the 2026/2027 school year, focusing on providing specialized support to students with visual impairments. The position is itinerant and serves multiple sites within the nearby area. While in-person work is required, there is flexibility to consider hybrid scheduling for the right candidate.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure required
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired is highly valued
- Solid understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and adaptive technology
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with staff, students, and families
- Ability to travel between sites within the assigned area
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students with visual impairments across various school settings
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to students’ unique needs
- Consult with other teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and learning materials
- Assist in the selection and use of assistive technology and accessible resources
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies
- Offer professional guidance and training for educational staff on best practices
- Serve as a resource for families, supporting student advocacy and inclusion
