Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments by providing expert instruction and guidance for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract opportunity is itinerant and welcomes both in-person and virtual Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs). The position is located near Soap Lake, WA, and you'll work closely with students, educators, and families to create inclusive and effective learning environments.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure required
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments, in school or similar settings
- Comfortable working itinerantly, supporting multiple schools or students as needed
- Proficient in developing and adapting curriculum materials for students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for meaningful interactions with students, families, and educational teams
- Open to candidates who prefer in-person or virtual service delivery
- Familiarity with current assistive technology tools for visually impaired students is highly valued
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in group settings
- Assess students’ vision needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Partner with general education teachers, school staff, and families to support student integration and success
- Travel between school sites (for itinerant positions) or connect virtually to provide support and services as needed
- Provide consultative support and staff training on best practices in visual impairment education
- Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to instructional strategies as required
