With a schedule designed to minimize travel between schools, you’ll work closely with students in both general education classrooms and specialized settings, helping each child reach their fullest potential.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Valid and active DOE certification specific to teaching students with visual impairments
• Thorough knowledge of Braille and experience using assistive technology (bonus points for familiarity with accessing assistive tech through the Federal Quota program)
• Experience collaborating with IEP teams and leading IEP meetings
• Flexibility and willingness to travel between geographically assigned schools
• Comfortable supporting students who use Chromebooks and working within the TN Pulse platform for IEP documentation
• Strong ability to engage with students who present a diverse range of needs, from general education to those with multiple disabilities
• Eligibility to complete required fingerprinting and fulfill credentialing quickly

What Your Day Will Look Like:

• Itinerant support, traveling between several schools assigned to optimize your schedule
• Creating individualized strategies to maximize student engagement and independence
• Supporting age groups from elementary through high school
• Facilitating and participating in IEP development and coordination
• Teaching and embedding Braille and assistive technology into students’ daily routines
