As a valued educator, you'll travel between schools in the greater Chattanooga area, helping to shape learning experiences for students in grades K-12+ across general education and specialized classrooms. With itinerant caseloads thoughtfully assigned to minimize travel, you'll have the chance to collaborate alongside passionate teams, contribute to individualized education programs, and empower students of all levels to achieve success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an active DOE certification
  • Proficiency in Braille instruction and familiarity with assistive technology for visually impaired learners
  • Experience completing and participating in IEPs, preferably with the TN Pulse platform
  • Comfortable supporting diverse caseloads (elementary, middle, and high school; general and special education environments)
  • Strong adaptability and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to travel between geographically assigned campuses as needed
  • Completed (or willing to complete) fingerprint-based background check
  • Bonus: Knowledge of the Federal Quota program for assistive technology access

Role Overview:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Support both general education integration and specialized programs
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Guide and participate in IEP meetings for assigned students
  • Utilize Chromebooks and adaptive technology to foster independent learning
  • Maintain accurate, timely records to track student progress
