Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree with appropriate certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Valid state teaching license for visually impaired students or eligibility to obtain
- Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and instructional skills geared toward students with visual impairments
- Ability to collaborate with school staff, families, and other service providers
- Comfortable providing both direct instruction and consultative services
Responsibilities Include:
- Assessing students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Adapting curriculum materials and creating accessible resources based on students’ IEP goals
- Delivering individualized and small-group instruction to students with visual impairments
- Training students in the use of assistive technology and orientation & mobility techniques
- Serving as a resource for teachers, families, and school staff to ensure inclusive education
- Maintaining accurate documentation, progress reports, and records in compliance with regulations
