Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with appropriate certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Valid state teaching license for visually impaired students or eligibility to obtain
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and instructional skills geared toward students with visual impairments
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff, families, and other service providers
  • Comfortable providing both direct instruction and consultative services

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assessing students’ functional vision and learning needs
  • Adapting curriculum materials and creating accessible resources based on students’ IEP goals
  • Delivering individualized and small-group instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Training students in the use of assistive technology and orientation & mobility techniques
  • Serving as a resource for teachers, families, and school staff to ensure inclusive education
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, progress reports, and records in compliance with regulations
