Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
• Previous experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
• Strong understanding of Braille and assistive technology devices for low vision/blind students
• Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families
• Flexibility to support students across multiple grade levels and settings

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments using adapted materials and techniques
• Provide consultative support to classroom teachers and staff
• Assess students’ visual functioning and learning needs; recommend appropriate accommodations and modifications
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and progress
• Facilitate access to curriculum, technology, and school activities
• Advocate for students’ needs and promote inclusion across the school community
