Ideal candidates will possess:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students in school environments
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing students’ functional vision and creating tailored instructional plans
- Delivering one-on-one or small group instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to support best learning outcomes
- Providing training and support in the use of Braille materials and assistive technology
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to promote growth and independence
