Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
  • Current teaching certification for Visually Impaired Students
  • Experience providing direct instruction and adaptive techniques to students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency with assistive technologies and braille skills highly preferred
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families
  • Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to curriculum
  • Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, and contribute to IEP development and implementation
  • Adapt materials, provide orientation and mobility instruction, and promote self-advocacy skills
  • Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive educational experiences
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress according to school and state guidelines
  • Participate in school meetings, evaluations, and professional development as required
