Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
- Current teaching certification for Visually Impaired Students
- Experience providing direct instruction and adaptive techniques to students with visual impairments
- Proficiency with assistive technologies and braille skills highly preferred
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to curriculum
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, and contribute to IEP development and implementation
- Adapt materials, provide orientation and mobility instruction, and promote self-advocacy skills
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive educational experiences
- Monitor, document, and report student progress according to school and state guidelines
- Participate in school meetings, evaluations, and professional development as required
