Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working in K-12 public school settings is highly valued
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies
- Proficient in designing and delivering Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel to multiple school sites if required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons to suit individual needs
- Assess student abilities and monitor progress, ensuring IEP goals are addressed
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to support inclusive education
- Consult with support staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure a coordinated approach
- Train school personnel on best practices for supporting visually impaired students
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings
