Qualifications:

  • Active Maryland teaching certification is required
  • Experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency in creating and adapting instructional materials for Braille, large print, and assistive technology
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) development
  • Adapt curriculum materials and recommend/access appropriate assistive technology
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote student independence and success
  • Offer training and guidance to educators regarding accommodations, strategies, and best practices
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in relevant meetings through the duration of the contract

This part-time position allows you to balance other commitments while making a lasting difference in students’ educational journeys. With a clear start and end date running from August 31, 2026, to June 14, 2027, you can plan your professional and personal calendar accordingly.
