Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct specialized instruction to a single 6th-grade student in accordance with IEP goals and vision-specific needs.
- Conduct two individualized 30-minute instructional sessions per month.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations and ensure access to the curriculum.
- Adapt materials and facilitate use of assistive technology so the student can fully engage in all activities.
- Monitor progress and provide regular updates to the educational team regarding the student's needs and growth.
- Consult with school staff regarding accessibility strategies, resources, and accommodations.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant requirements, paperwork, and services related to IEPs.
Qualifications:
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification with Vision Impairment/TVI endorsement.
- Experience or strong familiarity with teaching students with visual impairments, preferably at the middle school level.
- Understanding of IEP processes, specialized instructional strategies, and assistive technology.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with teachers, staff, and families.
- Flexibility and resourcefulness in adapting materials and approaches for optimal accessibility.
