Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid South Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) certification
- Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
- Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff
- Strong commitment to fostering independence and confidence in learners
- Effective communication and documentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students onsite, 3-4 days each week
- Assess students’ unique needs and design individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Adapt curriculum, materials, and classroom environments as needed
- Support students in developing crucial skills for classroom engagement and life outside of school
- Consult regularly with teachers, families, and service providers
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and progress reviews
This role offers 22.5-30 hours per week, providing the flexibility to balance meaningful work with personal commitments—all within a supportive and collaborative school climate.
