Teacher of Visually Impaired in Sunnyvale, CA

Both in-person Teachers of the Visually Impaired and skilled braillers are being sought for various roles in a welcoming and inclusive educational environment. If you’re passionate about innovative teaching, accessible materials, and inclusive education, your expertise is needed here.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid state certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for teaching roles.
• Proficiency in braille and braille transcription for brailler positions.
• Experience adapting and modifying curriculum for students with visual impairments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, support staff, and families.
• Prior experience in educational settings preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized educational programs for students with visual impairments.
• Provide direct instruction in core curriculum and assistive technology skills.
• Adapt classroom materials and tests into accessible formats using braille or tactile materials.
• Consult with classroom teachers and other school staff to support student accommodations.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
• For brailler positions: Transcribe instructional materials into braille and other accessible formats as needed.
