Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Sunnyvale, CA

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching credential with an endorsement or specialization in Visual Impairment
• Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, preferably in a K-12 setting
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, families, and related service providers
• Commitment to inclusivity and empowering students with diverse abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments in a variety of educational settings
• Conduct functional vision assessments and help develop individualized goals
• Modify curriculum content and classroom materials to accommodate various levels of visual ability
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to support student progress
• Offer guidance on the use of assistive technology and adaptive strategies
• Advocate for access and inclusion within the school community
