TVI - Sykesville, Maryland

Exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional experienced in teaching students with visual impairments! A contract position is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired serving Pre-K through 12th grade students near Sykesville, MD. This rewarding role starts on August 13, 2026, and runs through June 30, 2027, with the potential for summer work and extension into the following school year based on performance.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

• Valid Maryland teacher certification or licensure with TVI endorsement (support available for out-of-state candidates to obtain appropriate credentials)
• Demonstrated expertise in delivering instruction and support to students with visual impairments
• Experience with IEP development, assessments, and progress monitoring
• Strong collaborative skills to work with fellow TVIs, Braille Transcribers, general/special education teachers
• Willingness to provide specially designed instruction, as well as consultative and direct services

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction based on IEP goals and student needs
• Evaluate, assess, and monitor student progress
• Develop, implement, and review IEPs in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
• Offer consultation and guidance to educators and families on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
• Coordinate and support Braille Transcribers to ensure accessibility of learning materials
• Travel between approximately 12-15 assigned schools as needed

This role features a typical schedule aligned with the school day (potentially 7:30–3:00, 8:00–3:30, or 9:00–4:00, depending on assignment) and an active caseload of 20–25 students. You’ll have the tools you need, as a laptop will be provided for on-site instruction, along with comprehensive training to set you up for success.
