Make a meaningful impact as an educator supporting students with visual impairments in the Sykesville, MD area! We are seeking a dedicated Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a contract opportunity during the 2026-2027 school year. With one position available, you'll collaborate within a supportive educational community, serving a diverse caseload of approximately 20-25 students ranging from Pre-K to grade 12 across multiple school sites.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Maryland teaching certification or eligibility for certification with a TVI endorsement (support provided for out-of-state candidates to obtain licensure through the MSDE TEACH Portal)
  • Experience or training in instructing students who are visually impaired, developing and implementing IEPs, and conducting assessments in K-12 settings
  • Strong commitment to collaboration, including working alongside general and special education teachers, other TVIs, and Braille Transcribers
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specially designed instruction based on IEP goals for students with visual impairments
  • Conduct assessments, participate in IEP development, and manage service documentation
  • Consult regularly and collaborate with school staff, families, and Braille Transcribers to support student success
  • Provide direct and consultative services across approximately 12-15 school locations, with daily schedules varying per site (e.g., 7:30-3:00, 8:00-3:30, or 9:00-4:00)
  • Attend training opportunities as part of your role
