This contract opportunity focuses on providing individualized educational support and accessibility for students with visual impairments. You'll collaborate with dedicated educators, ensuring every student receives the tools they need for academic and personal success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain appropriate state credentials
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related discipline
  • Prior experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborative mindset for working with families, teachers, and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEPs
  • Assess student needs and adapt curriculum to accommodate diverse learning styles
  • Provide instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive devices
  • Help classroom teachers modify materials to ensure accessibility
  • Participate in IEP meetings and serve as a resource for staff and families
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all learners
