Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, particularly within K-5 settings.
- Valid TVI certification or teaching license (flexibility for out-of-state credentials).
- In-depth knowledge of best practices and tools for instructing students with visual impairments.
- Familiarity with IEP processes and documentation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with classroom staff and families.
- Ability to tailor instruction for varying levels of need.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver 3 hours of direct support each week to two elementary students, adapting materials and lessons for their unique requirements.
- Dedicate 1 hour weekly to documenting goals and progress, participating in IEP planning, and communicating with team members.
- Assess student needs and advocate for appropriate accommodations, technology, and resources.
- Work closely with educational staff to ensure inclusive, accessible learning environments.
