This position offers a unique hybrid environment—providing vital direct services on-site several days a week while also allowing flexible virtual instruction for the remainder of your hours. Based out of the district’s main office, you’ll collaborate with a team committed to making a meaningful impact across up to 13 schools in the area.
Key Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Florida Professional Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license
- Possess Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
- Experience with student screenings and assessments, including a strong background in educational testing
- Comfortable serving K-12 students in both direct and consultative capacities
- School-based experience strongly preferred but not required
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver direct instruction and adapted learning to visually impaired students (approximately 15–20 students on your caseload)
- Provide monthly consultative services to students, teachers, and families
- Travel between up to 13 school campuses (2–3 per day), with the main office as your home base
- Develop individualized schedules in collaboration with district staff to best support students’ needs and optimize your commute
- Conduct vision screenings and assessments to determine appropriate services and supports
- Maintain compliance with district onboarding and reporting procedures
