Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience working with K-12 students diagnosed with visual impairments
- Knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies for visually impaired students
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with staff, students, and families
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Passion for fostering independence and self-confidence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups, following IEP goals
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Assess students’ needs and recommend adaptive technology, materials, and modifications as appropriate
- Monitor progress and document student growth throughout the school year
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of learning plans
- Serve as a resource for staff development and awareness of visual impairments
