Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students diagnosed with visual impairments
  • Knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies for visually impaired students
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with staff, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Passion for fostering independence and self-confidence in students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups, following IEP goals
  • Consult and collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Assess students’ needs and recommend adaptive technology, materials, and modifications as appropriate
  • Monitor progress and document student growth throughout the school year
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of learning plans
  • Serve as a resource for staff development and awareness of visual impairments
