Job Description
We are currently hiring a Virtual Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide specialized educational support for students throughout Washington. This remote teaching position allows an experienced vision educator to deliver instruction, consultation, and resources virtually while partnering with school teams to ensure students receive accessible learning opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of visual impairments, assistive technology, and individualized instruction. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys combining specialized teaching expertise with the flexibility of virtual services.
Responsibilities
- Provide virtual instruction and consultation for students with visual impairments.
- Adapt curriculum materials to support accessibility and independence.
- Teach strategies related to orientation, mobility, and visual learning skills.
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and support professionals.
- Participate in virtual IEP meetings and progress discussions.
- Recommend accommodations and assistive technology solutions.
Skills
- Knowledge of braille, accessibility tools, and vision support strategies.
- Strong virtual teaching and communication skills.
- Ability to individualize instruction based on student needs.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Comfortable collaborating through online platforms.
Qualifications
- Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification or eligibility.
- Understanding of IDEA requirements and special education practices.
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments.
8:00 AM – 3:30 PM Pacific Time
37.5 hours per week
