A position is available for a visually impaired education specialist to support students through both onsite and telehealth services. This role is designed for experienced teachers skilled in delivering targeted instruction and vision services to visually impaired students.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction to students twice weekly for 60 minutes per session, adhering to each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Conducting monthly in-person vision services as outlined in IEPs
- Completing approximately 180 minutes of yearly parent consultations
- Leading virtual IEP meetings and completing related documentation and planning
- Delivering compensatory services totaling 500 minutes beyond standard instruction hours
- Managing schedule flexibility to accommodate onsite requirements and telehealth sessions
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with visually impaired students in school settings
- Ability to conduct telehealth sessions and virtual meetings effectively
- Strong organizational and communication skills for managing IEP compliance
- Flexibility to begin during the current school year and continue services into the summer
Location: Sacramento, CA, with a hybrid schedule offering some work online and onsite
