Teacher of the Visually Impaired in The Colony, TX

Make an immediate impact supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting! This full-time onsite contract opportunity offers you the chance to work collaboratively with dedicated professionals, helping create accessible, engaging learning experiences for students who are blind or visually impaired.

You will join a specialized team providing instructional support across a manageable caseload. With 45 students total, assignments are thoughtfully divided so each Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) can focus on meaningful, individualized service. Here, your expertise matters—your skills will shape students’ ability to access the curriculum, cultivate independence, and thrive in their school community.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid TX TVI License required
• Experience working with visually impaired or blind students across K-12 settings
• Up-to-date understanding of braille instruction, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
• Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and consultative best practices
• Strong communication, flexibility, and collaboration skills
• Any district- or state-mandated certifications

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
• Develop, implement, and evaluate IEPs specific to the needs of each student
• Collaborate closely with general educators, families, and related service providers
• Adapt materials, deliver braille and technology instruction, and support accessibility
• Document progress and maintain compliant records
• Participate in team meetings and professional development
