This full-time contract position provides services across multiple school sites in a consultative, itinerant capacity. As a key member supporting students with visual challenges, your primary responsibility will be to provide expertise and guidance for both students and educational teams. Services focus mainly on consultative supports, with some direct braille instruction required as needed. The position is based near Thousand Oaks, CA and involves travel between schools during the typical 6-hour school day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings
- Skilled in delivering consultative services and supporting IEP teams
- Competence in braille instruction and development of accessible materials
- Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work independently
- Ability to travel between multiple campuses throughout the day
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide consultative services to students, teachers, and staff regarding best practices for visually impaired learners
- Support development and implementation of IEPs, assessments, and progress monitoring
- Deliver targeted braille instruction for qualifying students
- Develop or source accessible instructional materials and technology
- Collaborate regularly with general and special education staff, related service providers, and families
- Document services and maintain compliance with educational standards
