Step into an impactful role as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, where your expertise will directly shape the educational journey of students across a district near Tilton, IL. This is a full-time, on-site position for the 2026-2027 school year, offering you the opportunity to work hands-on with a diverse caseload—supporting, mentoring, and empowering students who are visually impaired.

As an itinerant teacher, you'll provide vital services across multiple school sites within the district. Your ability to travel and adapt will be key in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring each student receives the tailored instruction and accommodations they need to thrive.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
  • Deep understanding of assistive technology and Braille
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel between school sites as needed
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Deliver direct instruction in specialized skills such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive devices
  • Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum materials and provide accommodations
  • Communicate regularly with families, staff, and related service providers
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices
