Key Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, accessible technology, and adaptive instructional strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach with staff, students, and families
- Dedication to fostering independence and confidence in students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and create customized instructional plans
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technology devices
- Support general education staff by sharing best practices for classroom modifications and accommodations
- Advocate for student access and inclusion across all school activities and curriculum
- Monitor and document student progress, communicating with teachers and families regularly
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
