Empower students across a district-wide role supporting visually impaired learners in a contract position beginning as soon as possible through late May 2027. This unique opportunity offers the flexibility to determine your schedule, with the assignment starting at .5 FTE and potential to increase to full-time as needs evolve. You'll provide direct and consultative services for a growing caseload of PreK–12th grade students, adapting to a range of vision support requirements—from periodic consultation to consistent, high-minute interventions. The position is open to both on-site and VOCO (virtual/remote) instruction.

What you’ll need to bring:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification
  • Ability to begin the VA Department of Social Services check promptly
  • Willingness to complete a TB test as required for credentialing
  • Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or similar school-based role
  • Flexibility to manage a diverse caseload and work across multiple schools as assigned
  • Strong communication and organization skills to adapt service delivery based on student needs
  • Comfort serving students virtually (VOCO) and/or on campus as assigned

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering effective vision services to students aged PreK-12, individually tailored per IEP requirements
  • Collaborating with educators, families, and support teams to address student goals
  • Providing consultative support for students with minimal service needs
  • Maintaining timely documentation and progress reports
  • Participating actively in IEP meetings, evaluations, and team discussions
  • Developing instructional adaptations and resources for visually impaired learners
