Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
• Deep understanding of adaptive and assistive technology for students with vision needs
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Proficiency in teaching Braille and providing orientation and mobility support
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students who are blind or have low vision, both in group and one-on-one settings
• Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments for accessibility
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs; develop tailored strategies to support their educational goals
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop modifications, accommodations, and programs
• Train staff and family members on effective strategies and assistive devices
• Track progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
