This rewarding contract opportunity places you at the heart of direct student engagement and collaborative support, ensuring learners with visual impairments achieve their fullest academic potential.

Your expertise will make a difference through both individual and group instruction, delivering direct services that cater to each student’s unique needs. You’ll also lend essential support by performing key evaluations like FVE, LMA, and O&M assessments as well as offering indirect services, collaborating with staff, and preparing accessible materials. Participation in ARD meetings will allow you to advocate for appropriate accommodations and personalized learning plans.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting
  • Proficiency conducting Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments
  • Strong consultation skills to advise faculty and prepare materials tailored for students
  • Comfort attending and contributing to ARD meetings to develop student support strategies
  • Ability to adapt instruction and resources for optimal student inclusion

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct instructional hours to students with visual impairments
  • Coordinating and preparing educational materials in accessible formats
  • Providing consultation services to staff and supporting IEP implementation
  • Conducting student assessments and maintaining thorough documentation
