Make a meaningful impact working with students across elementary, middle, and high school levels as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an engaging K-12 itinerant setting. This contract opportunity offers a chance to provide direct support and educational services to approximately ten students, helping each one reach their full academic and personal potential. The assignment is scheduled to begin as soon as possible and continues through June 11th, 2027, with a standard workweek of 37.5 hours.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Maryland TVI license required
  • Experience with K-12 students, especially those with visual impairments
  • Ability to adapt lessons and create accessible materials tailored to individual student needs
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and accessible instructional resources
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with general education teams, families, and support staff
  • Empathy, patience, and a true passion for fostering student independence

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to visually impaired students in a variety of school settings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to create inclusive, accessible learning environments
  • Conduct assessments and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as needed
  • Provide staff consultations and training on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
  • Advocate for necessary accommodations and materials to ensure student success
  • Travel between school sites as part of the itinerant service model
