Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Proven experience working with school-aged children who are visually impaired
  • Deep understanding of Braille instruction and assistive technology
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of current instructional strategies and legal requirements for visually impaired students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments across a variety of grade levels
  • Assess and adjust teaching strategies to meet each student’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Support the use of adaptive technology and materials
  • Consult with families to promote learning carryover at home
  • Maintain accurate records and progress reports
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to team-based educational planning
