Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience in a school setting working with visually impaired students preferred
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and adaptive technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Commitment to promoting independence and inclusion
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to students with visual impairments, both in and out of the classroom
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student success
- Conduct assessments to determine students’ needs and recommend adaptive equipment and technology
- Develop and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
- Offer consultative support to school staff on best practices and strategies for visually impaired learners
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed on the latest instructional techniques and resources
