Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
  • Experience working with students who have visual impairments in school settings
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology, Braille instruction, and accessible educational materials
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Conduct assessments to determine students’ visual and functional needs
  • Consult with teachers, specialists, and families to modify classroom materials and provide accommodations
  • Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and use of adaptive technology
  • Foster an inclusive environment that supports positive student outcomes and builds confidence
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
