Qualifications:

• Washington state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (WA TVI licensure) is required
• Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments, preferably in school settings
• Strong communication abilities for collaboration with staff, students, and families
• Proficient in adapting instruction and materials for students with diverse learning needs
• Willingness to travel between multiple schools as an itinerant instructor
• Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring lessons to meet their unique learning styles
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Support classroom teachers and staff by recommending appropriate modifications and resources
• Facilitate student inclusion in general education environments
• Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, documenting progress regularly
• Consult with families to offer guidance on resources and at-home strategies
