Qualifications:
- Washington state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (WA TVI licensure) is required
- Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments, preferably in school settings
- Strong communication abilities for collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Proficient in adapting instruction and materials for students with diverse learning needs
- Willingness to travel between multiple schools as an itinerant instructor
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring lessons to meet their unique learning styles
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Support classroom teachers and staff by recommending appropriate modifications and resources
- Facilitate student inclusion in general education environments
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs, documenting progress regularly
- Consult with families to offer guidance on resources and at-home strategies
