This full-time contract opportunity seeks a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year in an itinerant role. Candidates can choose to work either onsite or remotely, offering flexibility and a chance to tailor their support to the needs of students and schools.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification is required
- Proven experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments
- Strong ability to develop individualized educational plans and adapt curriculum
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with staff, students, and families
- Proficient in the use of assistive technologies for visual impairment
- Willingness and ability to travel between school sites for itinerant assignments, if working onsite
- Familiarity with virtual teaching tools and best practices for remote instruction, if providing virtual services
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop tailored instructional plans for learners with visual impairments
- Deliver direct instruction and support adaptively according to each student’s strengths and educational goals
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, staff, and families for best outcomes
- Provide consultation and training to staff on accessibility strategies and adaptive materials
- Monitor student progress, adjust programming as necessary, and maintain documentation
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students
- Utilize and teach adaptive technology as appropriate for each learner’s needs
