Your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is crucial in this role. You’ll work directly with students across a variety of grade levels, ensuring that each receives individualized, high-quality instruction tailored to their unique learning needs.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working in K-12 educational settings, preferably with visually impaired students
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to travel between school sites as an itinerant educator
  • Familiarity with adaptive technology and Braille instruction is highly desirable

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEPs
  • Assess students’ abilities and adapt curriculum and materials as needed
  • Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to modify learning environments for optimal inclusion
  • Deliver training and resources to staff and families to promote student success
  • Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings
  • Encourage independence and self-advocacy in visually impaired students
