Teacher of Visually Impaired - Watsonville, CA

Desired Experience & Skills:

• Valid teaching credential with specialization in Visual Impairment or equivalent certification
• Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of Braille, adaptive technology, and accessible instructional materials
• Familiarity with IEP processes and experience developing individualized plans for students
• Excellent collaboration and communication abilities for partnering with general educators, related service providers, and families
• Ability to promote independence and self-advocacy for students with diverse visual needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments across grade levels in a public school setting
• Develop and adapt curriculum and teaching tools to meet accessibility needs
• Monitor student progress, collect data, and maintain detailed records
• Participate actively in IEP meetings, contributing expertise and documentation
• Consult with school staff regarding student accommodations and accessible classroom materials
• Implement and teach use of assistive technology and Braille as needed
• Foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere that empowers students to succeed academically and socially
