Teacher of Visually Impaired in Watsonville, CA

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification and licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
• Experience working with school-age children with visual impairments, including braille instruction and use of assistive technology
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families
• Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to dynamic school environments

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments in one-on-one and small group settings
• Develop individualized lesson plans and IEP goals tailored to each student’s unique needs
• Teach braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the effective use of adaptive devices and technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to ensure full access to the curriculum
• Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional vision and learning needs
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress reports and evaluations
