Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school environment
- Strong understanding of assistive technologies and Braille
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to assess, adapt, and develop educational plans to enhance student learning
- Strong organizational skills and a compassionate, student-focused mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instruction for students with visual impairments
- Adapt materials and resources, including creating Braille or large-print content as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to design accessible curriculum and learning environments
- Provide ongoing support, training, and resources to students and staff regarding assistive technology and techniques
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet educational goals
- Foster a welcoming, respectful classroom culture that celebrates diversity and supports student independence
