Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with students who are blind or have visual impairments in a school setting
- Familiarity with braille instruction and assistive technology
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, teachers, and families
- Flexibility and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide input for IEP development
- Support the use of braille, large print, or audio materials as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to ensure appropriate classroom modifications and accommodations
- Provide training and support to staff and families on best practices and assistive technology
- Monitor student progress, document services provided, and participate in IEP meetings
