Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a contract role with full-time hours. This itinerant position places you at the heart of educational support, traveling between schools within the county and working with school-aged students who are visually impaired. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with educators and families to ensure an accessible and empowering learning environment for every student on your caseload.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with visually impaired children in a school setting, preferably in itinerant capacity
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessibility resources for visual impairments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support students, teachers, and parents
  • Flexibility and organizational skills needed to manage travel between multiple school locations
  • Commitment to fostering independence and academic success for students with visual impairments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and educational support to students with varying levels of visual impairment
  • Adapt curriculum materials and develop individualized educational plans in collaboration with IEP teams
  • Consult regularly with general and special education teachers to promote inclusive classroom strategies
  • Offer training and guidance on assistive technology and accessible resources
  • Advocate for students’ accessibility needs and track their academic progress
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in visual impairment education
