This role makes a difference in the lives of children across grades K-12, providing high-quality instruction and fostering independence for students with visual impairments. The position is scheduled for 32.5 hours per week, running from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm, Monday through Friday, beginning ASAP and continuing through June 3, 2025.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification (Instructional I or II)
- Experience teaching students in grades K-12
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, general educators, and support staff
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to visual needs
- Enthusiasm for empowering students to reach their academic and personal goals
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments according to IEP requirements
- Assess and address students’ unique visual, academic, and adaptive needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and staff to provide appropriate accommodations
- Support students in using assistive technologies and adaptive devices
- Maintain thorough documentation and report on student progress
