Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment/Special Education or eligibility to obtain
• Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired
• Proficiency with Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility strategies, and accessible instructional materials
• Strong communication, advocacy, and collaboration skills
• Commitment to ongoing professional development

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess student needs and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in various educational settings
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and offer consultation
• Maintain accurate progress records and participate in IEP meetings
• Facilitate and recommend assistive technology to maximize student independence
• Partner with families to support skill development and transition planning
