You’ll thrive in this position if you:
- Hold a valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Have previous experience working in schools or with children who are visually impaired
- Understand Braille instruction and assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Are adaptable, compassionate, and committed to student outcomes
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
- Adapting instructional materials to meet individual student needs
- Assessing students’ functional vision, learning media, and assistive technology needs
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborating closely with general and special education staff, families, and service providers
- Advocating for accessible educational experiences and supporting staff training
