Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments, especially in a school setting
• Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Commitment to empowering students and fostering an inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments to determine students’ strengths and needs related to their visual impairments
• Develop, adapt, and deliver instructional materials for students in one-on-one and group settings
• Work alongside general education teachers, special education staff, and families to support student success
• Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed to meet educational and developmental goals
• Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school environment
• Participate in IEP meetings, provide training to staff, and offer guidance on appropriate accommodations
