Bring your expertise in teaching students with visual impairments to a vibrant, supportive school community! This contract opportunity begins August 13, 2026, serving Pre-K through 12th grade students across a flexible school schedule (7:30-3:00, 8:00-3:30, or 9:00-4:00). You’ll be managing a caseload of approximately 20-25 students, rotating among 12-15 school sites to deliver high-quality, specially designed instruction that supports IEP goals and fosters independence.
Key qualifications:
- Maryland teaching certification or eligibility for TVI endorsement (assistance available for out-of-state applicants)
- Experience (or strong interest) in providing services to visually impaired students within the K-12 spectrum
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and evaluation practices
- Skilled in collaboration and consultation with educators, related service providers, and Braille Transcribers
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth (training is provided)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, specially designed instruction to meet IEP objectives
- Conduct evaluations and regular assessments for students with visual impairments
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs in collaboration with school teams
- Consult and collaborate with general and special education teachers as well as other TVIs
- Coordinate with Braille Transcribers and provide guidance and support
- Travel between multiple school sites as assigned (laptop provided for all on-site work)
- Participate in professional training and adapt to dynamic school environments
