This contract opportunity, located near Williamsburg, VA, is a rewarding role designed for a passionate professional dedicated to making a positive impact. You will work 21 hours a week, spread across three days with 7.5-hour shifts each day. While in-person instruction is desired, remote (VOCO) candidates will be considered.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Virginia
  • Expertise in Braille instruction and adaptive technology for visual impairment
  • Previous experience providing educational support to students who are visually impaired, preferably within a school setting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to create individualized educational plans in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
  • Comfortable adapting teaching methods to meet diverse needs and learning styles

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and support to students, focusing on specialized techniques such as Braille and assistive technology
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students’ success and inclusion
  • Conduct functional vision and learning assessments and assist in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide guidance on adaptations and modifications to promote an accessible classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and documentation in compliance with educational standards
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities as needed
