Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Previous teaching experience with students who are blind or have low vision preferred
  • Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and accommodations
  • Excellent communication skills with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials for visually impaired learners

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to implement effective learning strategies
  • Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and recommend appropriate accommodations or modifications
  • Provide training and support for staff on assistive devices and techniques
  • Foster independence and self-advocacy skills in students
